AMMS Group was established in the port city of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu by the renowned industrialist Shri. A.M.M. Sinnamani Nadar. The group was founded in the year 1921
Shri. Sinnamani Nadar was born into a textile family that operated several ginning factories in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. He grew the business multi-fold, and later set up one of the largest spinning mills of that time. He established the Tuticorin Spinning Mills Ltd in the year 1946 at Thoothukudi. The mills would remain the flagship company until 2016, when the group moved out of cotton yarn manufacturing and entered green-field areas of wind energy and real estate development
Shri. Sinnamani Nadar founded the Nadar Bank in the year 1921 at a very young age. Due to his tireless efforts, he was able to bring people of the Nadar community together to establish a bank that would serve the interests of the community. The bank was later re-named as Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, to suit its wider customer base
At present the group is well diversified and operates in several sectors including wind energy generation, integrated chip design and real estate development. The group also runs several schools and a college. Each of the companies and organizations run by the founding family remain leaders in their respective fields

Shri. AMMS Ganesa Nadar, son of the founder of the group, established the Tuticorin Educational Society in the year 1966, in cooperation with Karapettai Hindu Nadar Sangam. The Society runs the following institutions;
